I should know better.
What a crazy few weeks! The crew has been spending the last few weeks working on a grant application for yet another funding opportunity through Telus’ STORYHIVE documentary series. I was actually successful at receiving funding from this grant program last year for a music video with my a cappella group “Altra Volta”. One of the main tasks was creating a “pitch video” for the application, which is no easy feat. I was so proud of the Altra Volta pitch video because it was

Creating World Class
This week was another week away from the guitar build. It’s just that kind of year. It may seem like I’m complaining, but I’m not. I’ve been extremely blessed to have so many wicked destinations. From travelling to Beijing multiple times; visiting a friend in Memphis and side trip to New Orleans; spending quality time with Family in Fairmont BC ; San Diego for a work related conference and connecting with other fellow project controllers from all over the world; a possi

The struggle is worth it.
We are in full production mode this week. Staying focused and keeping to our timeline is tough. We sacrifice rest to make this happen. This week we filmed more footage for the doc. We interviewed, took headshots for the project, captured b-roll and most importantly, we learned a lot about one another this week. We are machines and will do what it takes. We are honest. I’ve been stressed with all my ‘9-5’ duties, trying to create value in every way that I can. When I say creating va

Saying "No"
I need to be setting more realistic expectations for myself when I KNOW weeks are going to have more pressing priorities. This is priority management 101. Don’t set yourself up to fail! After spending a week travelling for work, 2 weeks ago I convinced myself that I would not only get back on track, but actually make ground on learning my pieces. I set these goals knowing that Amante Duo had a huge gig this weekend along with a wedding that would require a whole lot of pr

Incremental Improvements.
Last week was an absolute grind. Fresh off the successful AFA grant notification, I literally spent almost 2-3 hours a day practicing. My nightly routine would consist of: Around 7:30pm-9pm: Get the kids in bed, work our Instagram account while I wait for them to fall asleep Around 9pm-10:30pm: Tidy up the house, do the dishes 11pm-11:30pm: Guitar practice warm up 11:30pm: Practice pieces, drilling, learning notes Around 1am or so: Go to bed I know this schedule simply isn’
